As professional construction divers and hydraulic engineers, we are active in various industries. We work wherever there is construction and repair work – both under and above water. We work in harbor basins, construction pits and dams, as well as in sewage treatment plants, industrial plants, offshore on oil platforms and in wind farms on the high seas.

Construction industry
The construction industry is a multifaceted sector. The execution of structural work in building construction, civil engineering and road construction often involves unavoidable underwater work. Here we support construction in the groundwater sector, more precisely in special civil engineering and hydraulic engineering. Whether it is the construction of bridges or the raising of architecture in water – we are actively involved in the implementation and realization.
Water management
Water management is all about protecting and using water. Regardless of whether it is the extraction of drinking water or the construction of a dam for the benefit of the population – experts are needed for implementation. We take care of water management tasks such as the maintenance of drinking water facilities and barrages. In addition to the management and cultivation of water bodies of all kinds and the production of drinking water, the smooth operation and maintenance of wastewater facilities is also an important element in which we provide expert support.
Landscaping
Power plants
Power plants are indispensable machinery in energy generation and must therefore function perfectly. To ensure this, we support power plants in the construction, repair and maintenance of intake and outlet structures. We deal with the maintenance of turbines in structures such as barrages and ensure that everything runs smoothly.
Sewage treatment plants
Our specialized industrial divers do not stop at a sewage treatment plant. Being a sewage treatment plant diver is not an easy job, so teamwork is required here. We work together as a team to inspect, repair and maintain all wastewater treatment plants, such as digesters, intakes, aeration, secondary clarification and culverts, and check their condition. KERLEN-TAUCHER are also on site during the construction of a new sewage treatment plant and also carry out the work under water with breathing apparatus above water. To ensure digester capacity and gas yield, we also tackle the cleaning of digesters and biogas plants during operation.
Agricultural industry
Industrial divers are also in demand in the agricultural industry. The employees of Kerlen Taucher GmbH are called in where normal tradesmen run out of air: digesters, biogas plants and slurry tanks. Unexpected breakdowns or malfunctions can often occur where experts are needed. Instead of completely draining systems, we can go to work as experienced divers in the depths to eliminate the problem. Whether it’s maintenance or repair, we can help in all types of water. It is also possible for us to carry out this work in dry conditions using breathing apparatus.
Maritime and inland shipping, shipping companies
Our range of services is also very diverse and multifaceted in maritime and inland shipping. In addition to general maintenance work and common classifications, Kerlen divers also help with accidents and salvage components from ships and boats. We have the necessary qualifications for emergency repairs and deal with the sealing of damage and leaks. Our classic investigations also include video and visual investigations, in which we demonstrate our own technical skills.
Industry
Industry covers a wide range of different economic sectors that are involved in the mechanical manufacture of consumer and production goods. As industrial divers, we help with underwater work on inlet and outlet structures, extinguishing water tanks, industrial waste water systems and much more. We take on the maintenance, repair and inspection of machines, carry out suction and flushing work and undertake installation work in unusual water environments.
Search & Recovery
Objects are often lost in the water in both larger and smaller harbor facilities or bodies of water. Kerlen divers are therefore often tasked with rescuing sunken objects from the depths. We search for and recover everything that is lost in the water: ships, boats, dredging shovels, missing objects and small items, machines, cars and much more. We also provide active support when objects need to be removed from the water in order to guarantee the safety of bathers: we have inflatable boats, rigid hull boats and steel boats from 3m to 12m in length.
Water and shipping authorities
Shipping is particularly important for the transportation of people and goods. To ensure that waterways are safe for traffic, we inspect and monitor hydraulic engineering facilities and structures such as locks, bridges, fish ladders, embankments, dykes and sluices. We work on the repair of waterways and
structures in accordance with specified guidelines and help with the planning and final implementation process on and in the water.
Biogas plants
As expert construction divers, we also work on agricultural biogas plants. During the fermentation of heavy biomass, sediment or fermentation residue often builds up inside the plant, which can lead to gearbox or pump failure. To avoid longer downtimes or high costs for emptying, our slurry divers go into the depths of the biogas plant for maintenance work or dirt removal in extreme heat.
Leisure time
Even if professional diving sounds more like recreational fun than it is, we can still take the time here and there to make our contribution to the “leisure” sector. In addition to jetty construction in various bodies of water, we also take care of the associated maintenance work, such as cleaning floats. Regardless of whether we are dealing with fixed jetties or anchored jetties – we take care of everything from planning and depth measurement to implementation on site.
Our sectors of activity are extensive and require a high level of experience in the respective sector. However, thanks to our many years of expertise, we know what is important when it comes to demanding offshore, harbor and underwater work.
